PLANNED GIVING:
For the last few weeks I’ve written about Planned Giving through the weekly envelope scheme. Now we move on to the second method which is the Standing Order. This is where you instruct your bank to pay a regular monthly or quarterly payment directly into the parish bank account. This has advantages for the parish in that the payments continue even when the donor is away, for instance on holiday. And it has advantages for you in that you do not have to remember to fill your weekly envelope. The amount you give and the frequency is entirely up to you and is confidential. A special form is available should you wish to take up this method. If you would like to know more or would like to start a Standing Order, please contact David Savage on 380626.
READERS:
A Day of Recollection with Fr. Geoff O’Grady has been organised for existing Readers on Saturday, 31st October 2009 at St. Columba’s. Please make every effort to attend. Further details will be posted on the front and back Porches as soon as available.

DIOCESAN MASS AT LIVERPOOL CATHEDRAL
SATURDAY JUNE 27th 2009:
All those who applied for tickets have been successful and are being contacted for distribution. The mass begins at noon but the Diocesan Office has requested everyone to be in their seats by 11.30am to "allow for a brief run through of the music for Mass". TRANSPORT is being arranged by the LPA Team for all participating parishes – coaches leave from St Columba’s car park promptly at 10.15 am. Drop off point in Liverpool will be in the vicinity of the entrance to the underground car park below the Cathedral. If people walk into the car park there is a Cathedral entrance at that level with stairs and a lift (the alternative is a lot of stairs to the main entrance). Admission is by ticket but in the Cathedral it is "sit where you want" - no reserved areas for particular parishes. Mass is expected to last between 1hr 20 Mins and 1hr 30 Mins. There is nowhere for the coaches to wait so the plan is to 'phone the drivers at the end of mass to get them back to pick up on the same stretch of road where we are dropped off. Everyone is requested to get back to the coaches promptly after mass. Thank you.

Empty pots can be dropped off at school any time, and any plants you can donate may be delivered to school on the day of the Fair. For details, contact Lal Cook on 01244 317550.
